Legalization and Notarial
The Consulate provides notarial, document legalization, and certified translation services in English and French for use in Saint Lucia or the French Territories.
The Consulate General may notarize:
- Affidavits
- Declarations
- Powers of Attorney (for use in Saint Lucia)
- Consent to Travel Forms for minors
- Certified true copies of original documents
- Statutory Declarations (e.g., related to birth, residence, marital status, etc.) Notarial services are provided in English only. Documents in French must be translated prior to notarization.
Legalization / Authentication of Documents
- The Consulate can authenticate:
- Documents issued in Saint Lucia for use in the French territories
- Documents issued in the French territories for use in Saint Lucia
- Typical documents include:
- Civil status certificates (birth, marriage, death)
- Police records
- Court documents
- School transcripts and diplomas
Legalization certifies the authenticity of the signature or seal on a document but does not validate its content.
Notarial services are offered only on Tuesdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
Official Translation:
The Consulate provides official translations of documents between French and English for consular purposes. This includes:
- Birth and death certificates
- Marriage certificates
- Police records
- Supporting documents for passport or citizenship applications
Translations are completed in-house and must be requested in advance. Fees apply per document.
What to Bring:
- The original document to be notarized, translated, or legalized
- A valid photo ID
- Any supporting documents required
- Payment in cash only (Euros). Card payments are not accepted.
