Saint Lucian nationals travelling to the French Territory

  • Travel Requirements 
  • Saint Lucian nationals do not require a visa for stays of up to 15 days in the French overseas departments (Guadeloupe, Martinique, etc.), within a limit of 120 days total over 12 months.
  • Valid passport
  • For stays beyond that duration of time, “standard rules” apply (i.e., visa required).
  • Travel insurance paid in St Lucia before departure
  • Proof of lodging- Hotel booking or Lodging certificate issued by the competent French authorities to the person welcoming the Foreign national, proof of daily cash (show money), return ticket, and valid health/travel insurance.
  • Note that persons in possession of a valid titre de Sejour (Residency Card) do not require proof of lodging upon entry.

 

French Residents travelling to Saint Lucia

Traveling to Saint Lucia from the French Territories

  • Saint Lucians and French residents may travel between the territories and Saint Lucia for:
  • Vacation or family visits
  • Medical appointments
  • Cultural exchanges or business trips
  • Entry Requirements for French Nationals / Residents:
  • Valid passport or EU national ID card
  • Proof of return or onward travel
  • Proof of accommodation or local contact
  • No visa required for short stays (less than 90 days)

Traveling to the French Territories from Saint Lucia:

Saint Lucians traveling to Martinique, Guadeloupe, or French Guiana must comply with French border control and visa requirements.


Visa Exemption for Short Visits:

  • No visa is required for Saint Lucian nationals visiting the French territories for 15 days or less.
  • Travelers must still meet standard entry conditions, including:
  • A valid Saint Lucian passport (with at least 6 months’ validity) o A round-trip ticket or proof of onward travel
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking, invitation letter, or rental agreement)
  • Proof of sufficient funds to support the duration of the stay
  •  Stays Longer than 15 Days:

 

Residency Laws:

  • To stay longer than the visitor period, French nationals would need to apply through Saint Lucia’s immigration system (e.g., for longer visas or residency) NB: non-immigrant visas are handled by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Immigration Department.
  • There is no blanket “visa-free permanent residence” for French nationals; longer residence requires meeting Saint Lucian visa/residency criteria.
  • For short stays (under the visa-exempt regime), there is no automatic right to work: these exemptions are for visiting only.
  • For longer or work stays in the country, a temporary work permit may be required under French law. (see country’s regulations)
  • Entry / stay must be documented: stamps on travel documents by border control are required to prove lawful stay; failure to comply can result in losing visa-exemption benefits for 12 months.
